We recommend a stay of at least three months to become acquainted with our work. Beyond that, there is the possibility for graduates who showed outstanding potential to conduct their thesis project in our company. Please ensure you fulfill the following requirements before applying:

  • Good knowledge of remote sensing
  • Basic knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS)
  • Basic proficiency in image processing (Erdas Imagine, ENVI) or open source software

Senior REMOTE SENSING expert

Remote Sensing Solutions, based in Munich, is one of Germany’s leading value-adding companies in Earth Observation. Working at the leading-edge of satellite remote sensing, natural resource management, geoinformation science and artificial intelligence we help to solve the emerging challenges of our time.  We aim to address both research and commercial projects and work on a multitude of pressing subjects from climate change to forestry, agriculture and natural hazards.

 

The Challenge:

 

We are looking for a highly-skilled remote sensing project manager to help advance state-of-the-art satellite image analysis for various applications in the field of environmental monitoring. As a project manager you will be responsible for the technical supervision and execution of national and international research projects and commercial consulting services, but also for research proposal writing, sales and market development.

 

You will:

  • Lead and participate an interdisciplinary team tasked with research and development, geospatial data processing and application development
  • Collaborate with software developers, users, and customers to ensure your work is making real impact.
  • Provide research results, knowledge, and new technologies to customers through technical publications, presentations, training sessions, web, and social media.
  • Represent the interests of RSS in national and international forums on technical and scientific issues and provide consultancy services for international development cooperation

 

You have:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in leading technical teams
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience using analytical, collaboration, communication and organizational skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing remote sensing or image processing applications
  • Experience in the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of larger research projects
  • Experience in the management of processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes
  • Master or Doctorate of Science degree in remote sensing, computer science, geoinformatics or geography
  • Strong communication skills in English (German, Spanish or French are an asset)
  • An independent and responsible way of working
  • Innovative thinking

 

Skills that are an advantage:

  • Experience with Python and R programming languages
  • Experience with Agile Development processes
  • Experience in development cooperation
