SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER (m,f,d)

Remote Sensing Solutions, based in Munich, is one of Germany’s leading value-adding companies in Earth Observation. Working at the leading-edge of satellite remote sensing, geoinformatics and artificial intelligence, we help to solve the emerging challenges resulting from global change. We address research and commercial projects equally and work on a multitude of pressing subjects ranging from climate change to forestry, agriculture, conservation and natural hazards.

We are looking for a highly-skilled remote sensing project manager to help advance state-of-the-art satellite image analysis for various applications in the field of environmental monitoring. As a project manager you will be responsible for the technical supervision and execution of national and international research projects and commercial consulting services, but also for research proposal writing, sales and market development.


You will:

  • Lead and participate in an interdisciplinary team tasked with research and development, geospatial data processing and cloud application development.
  • Collaborate with software developers, users, and customers to ensure your work has real impact.
  • Provide research results, knowledge, and new technologies to customers through technical publications, presentations, training sessions, web, and social media.
  • Represent the interests of RSS in national and international forums on technical and scientific issues and provide consultancy services for international development cooperation.

Your qualification:

  • Master or Doctorate of Science degree in geoinformatics, geography or similar
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in remote sensing and image processing and in leading technical teams
  • Experience in the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of larger multilateral projects
  • Experience in proposal development and writing
  • Strong communication skills in both German and English (additional languages are a plus)
  • Experience with GEE, Python and R programming languages is an asset

ENGAGING WORK FOR STUDENTS

Our interns can expect to be integrated and immersed in current projects. This means getting to know our programs and workflows while actively contributing to current projects. We recommend a stay of at least three months to become acquainted with our work. Beyond that, there is the possibility for graduates who showed outstanding potential to conduct their thesis project in our company. Please ensure you fulfill the following requirements before applying:

  • Good knowledge of remote sensing
  • Basic knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS)
  • Basic proficiency in image processing (Erdas Imagine, ENVI) or open source software
